Queen
Elizabeth II to Mark Jamestown Anniversary
(VOA) Britain’s
Queen Elizabeth will visit the United States in May to mark
the 400th anniversary of the first permanent
English settlement in America.
This will
be the second time the Queen and her husband Prince Philip
tour Jamestown, in what is now the U.S. state of Virginia,
having first come for the 350th anniversary shortly after her
accession to the throne.
The royal
couple will also head to the famed horse race the Kentucky
Derby, an event as closely watched as England’s Ascot for its
sleek horses and fancy hats.
Queen Elizabeth
and Prince Philip will end their American tour with a visit
to Washington, D.C. where they will be hosted by President
Bush and his wife, Laura at the White House.
