FBI Knows About Al-Qaeda’s Plans to
Organize "Chemical" Terrorist Acts

NOVOSIBIRSK (RIA Novosti) — FBI has operational information on Al-Qaeda’s plans to perpetrate terrorist acts with the use of biological and chemical substances, head of the FBI Anti-Terrorist Center John Lewis said answering RIA Novosti’s question.

Operational information that numerous terrorist groupings and cells, including Al-Qaeda, have been hatching plans to perpetrate terrorist acts with the use of biological and chemical substances comes from different regions of the world, Mr. Lewis told journalists in Novosibirsk.

He did not specify the regions he meant.

At the moment the FBI has no information on any concrete plans of terrorists to perpetrate terrorist acts, using chemical and biological substances, Mr. Lewis went on to say.

He stressed that at the same time the problem of biological and chemical terrorism is serious enough.

Mr. Lewis is participating in the international conference of the heads of secret services in Novosibirsk.
