Operations
AR
RAMADI, Iraq – The 82nd Airborne Division and its subordinate
units, also known as Task Force “All American”, continued
missions yesterday to capture enemy personnel who continue violence
against coalition forces and the people of Al Anbar.
During the last
24 hours, the 82nd Airborne Division and subordinate elements conducted
188 patrols, 17 of which were joint patrols with Iraqis, and carried
out one cordon and search. Eight enemy personnel were captured during
these operations. No soldiers were wounded from enemy contact. Entry
was denied to 182 personnel at the border crossing at Trebil –
all due to insufficient documentation. No one was turned away at
Tanif, Husaybh, or Ar Ar.
This morning
in 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division’s area, soldiers with
the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment conducted a joint cordon
and search mission with the Al Haswah police. The operation’s
objective was to capture personnel responsible for the recent attack
on the Al Haswah Police Station. The operation was based on information
provided by the local police and resulted in the capture of six
enemy personnel and the confiscation of various small arms.
In 1st Brigade,
1st Infantry Division’s area, an Iraqi train en route to Habbaniyah
was attacked with an RPG. The round impacted the locomotive and
disabled the train. Soldiers from 1st Brigade responded to the attack
and secured the site. When they arrived, the train was not on fire,
but had been abandoned. The train was carrying concrete force protection
barriers, which prevented looters from taking anything more than
the engine’s batteries. The local police took control of the
site yesterday evening.
Soldiers from
1st Brigade discovered a cache east of Ar Ramadi. The site contained
24 RPG rounds, an RPG launcher, thousands of rounds of ammunition,
and a box of explosives.
Soldiers from
the 82nd Airborne Division, 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment, and the
1st Infantry Division continue to work with the people of Al Anbar
to secure a safe environment.
