Branching Out: Beilinson Hospital and Givatayim
(YS) Like a tree in the growing season, Yad Sarah
continues to branch out. This summer two new branches will be
fully operative in Israel's central area.
A
new hospital branch just opened in Petach Tikvah at Beilinson
Hospital. It will allow discharged patients to go home the same
day with appropriate home care equipment. This lending facility
replaces the previous site at Schneider Children's Medical Center
and will enable volunteers to help many more people. Yad Sarah
is grateful to Eitan Fleischer, Shneider Administrative Director
for 16 years of cooperation and to Yedida Maor, deputy director
in helping to find a new location.
A
new central area branch in Givatayim will supplement the existing
Ichilov Hospital Branch in Tel-Aviv and the B'nai Brak branch.
After renovations, the Givatayim branch – supported by
the town's municipality and the Rotary Club – will be
looking for additional volunteers. City residents interesting
in volunteering four hours a week, in two shifts at either of
the new branches may call Orit at 03-954-3300. Special training
and supervision are provided for each new volunteer.
Yad
Sarah was established in 1976 and next month will celebrate
30 years of community service for its volunteers. Last year
alone its 6,000 volunteers helped 380,000 people. A Machon Dahaf
survey had indicated that throughout the years of Yad Sarah's
operation, every second family in Israel has received help from
one of its many services. Yad Sarah received no government budgeting
for its overall operations and depends upon contribution from
the private sector.
