Musical Salute: In Honor of Israel's 60th Anniversary
(IDF)
Military
orchestras
will play the melody of peace in honor of the 60th anniversary
of Israel's independence. For the first time ever, the
IDF (Israel Defense Forces) has organized a unique performance
by the IDF orchestra and ten other military bands from
around the world. The performance will take place on Independence
Day in Haifa and guarantees to be an unforgettable musical
and visual show.
The performance will include a
parade of orchestras in which each orchestra will play its
repertoire of songs. At the end
of the parade, a joint performance will take place, in which
the IDF marching song will be played, as well as the song "We
Brought Peace Upon Us," and "Hatikva," the Israeli
national anthem.
The visiting orchestras will be hosted a day prior to the
event in southern and northern cities to liven local Independence
Day celebrations.
Performance details:
The first part of the performance will begin with a parade
of the orchestras. During the parade, each orchestra will play
its repertoire of songs. The parade will start at 11:30 in
the Ben Gurion Boulevard (below the Bahai Gardens), and then
go through Allenby St., Rothschild St, Tzahal St. and reach
the amphitheater at around 13:30.
After the parade, the second part
of the performance will begin in Kiryat Eliezer. At 14:00,
the mayor of Haifa, Mr.
Yona Yahav and the Debuty Chief of Staff, Major General Dan
Harel will speak; at 14:10, the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant
General Gabi Ashkenazi, followed by a parachuting exhibition
of 12 paratroopers holding IDF and Israeli flags who will land
in the amphitheater. At 14:30, a joint performance by the military
bands (up to 400 musicians) and the IDF orchestra, with Major
Mishe Yaaron conducting. The performance will last approximately
an hour and will showcase the orchestra's musical abilities.
This will be followed by all the bands playing the IDF marching
song, "We Brought Peace Upon Us," the "Hatikva," the
Israeli national anthem, and other songs.
